Detailed description of Grey Rock Golf Club
Grey Rock Golf Club, formerly named Circle C Ranch Golf Club, is a Public, 18 hole golf course located in Austin, Texas.
The golf course at Grey Rock Golf Club first opened for play in 1992. The course was designed by Jay Morrish.
The course hugs 160 acres of prime Texas Hill Country. Their fairways are lined with hundreds of live oaks, some of the most stunning that you'll see in this area. The course has large undulating greens protected by mounds and bunkers
The toughest hole on this course is No. 7, a par-5 that plays 542 yards from the back tees and 439 from the front tees. There are clusters of trees to contend with here, but this is a great driving hole. Fairway bunkers are the main danger. If you get past the one on the right that's 100 yards long, you might end up in a slightly smaller one to the left. You'll also have to be cautious on your approach shot; the green has water behind it.
The second most difficult hole at Grey Rock is the par-5 No. 14 (591 yards from the back tees and 576 from the front tees). This is a dogleg right that demands a good tee shot in order to clear the rocks on the left. Trees to the right may block your second shot. And of course, you'll find bunkers, both grass and sand, guarding the green.
The golf course at the Grey Rock Golf Club plays to 6,855 yards from the back tees. The course rating is 73.4 with a slope rating of 130.

The new Greens Keeper has really improved this course. He has not only improved the greens but he has let the rough grow so now hitting the fairway is a must. While the price to play is higher than other area courses you will enjoy the challenge that is presented to each golfer. There also are several sets of tees to allow players of all skill levels enjoy themselves.

I love this course and would play it alot, but unless there is a special I really can't afford it on a regular basis.

I took advantage of a Labor Day Weekend Golf Special. Normally it is a bit pricey on weekends.

The course was in excellent shape and had a very enjyable layout. However, I think they priced themselves out of the market for a public course.

As many of you around Austin know, Circle C has upgraded and re-branded itself as Grey Rock Golf Club. Unlike most other times when you've been told an upgrade is in the works for a course around here, the upgrade at Grey Rock is for real; fairways and greens are significantly better than they've ever been, and better than most public courses around Austin. That's the good news. The bad news is that they've all but priced themselves away from the casual golfer. If you can catch the twilight rate ($35 M-Th/$45 wknd.) and still get in all 18, then go for it.

The greens keeper has made this one of the best courses in the Austin area. The more you play the course the more you want to come back.
